In 2020, Jennifer George was diagnosed with Axial Spondylarthritis, just as the UK

Jennifer George Running the London Marathon

entered lockdown.

At a time when treatment was critical, access was delayed. Her active lifestyle quickly became out of reach, replaced by physical challenges, isolation, and uncertainty.

From Diagnosis to Determination

Axial Spondylarthritis is a long-term inflammatory condition that can significantly impact mobility and quality of life.

For Jennifer, the early stages of her diagnosis were particularly difficult:

  • Delayed access to treatment

  • Reduced mobility and physical activity

  • Isolation during lockdown

  • Uncertainty about recovery

What followed, however, is what makes this story remarkable.

Rebuilding Strength and Confidence

With the support of Versus Arthritis, Jennifer began to rebuild.

Step by step, she regained both physical strength and confidence.

Five years on, her progress speaks for itself:

  • Completed two triathlons

  • Participated in multiple running events

  • Preparing for the London Marathon
